In collaboration with Eden Ohana, I created a small series of 40 units of a side table in the shape of Israel.
The project dealt with issues of space and borders.
- What will the souvenir of Israel look like?
- Who determines the borders of the state? The landscape? Maps? Army? Citizens?
The tables were sold in design stores throughout the country with two different shape options; the choice was between the 1967 borders and the borders of Greater Israel. It was the customer's decision whether they were willing to pay the same price for a smaller table.
The project included using a series of jigs for cutting the legs and for their location on the base of the tabletop.
